MD thesis

We actively support MD students pursuing a doctoral thesis in our lab. Thesis projects can be pursued through experimental laboratory work or by analyzing primary patient data from our clinical databases.

We provide active support for competitive funding applications including:

• ELAN Programme — intramural funding for MD thesis projects at University Hospital Essen
• DGHO Scholarships — fellowships from the German Society of Hematology and Medical Oncology
• José Carreras Foundation — research scholarships for leukemia and lymphoma research
• Mildred Scheel Doctoral Programme — doctoral scholarships from the Deutsche Krebshilfe
• Peter Scriba Promotionsstipendium — doctoral scholarships from the German Society of Internal Medicine
• Stiftung Immunonkologie — doctoral scholarships for research in immuno-oncology
• BIF MD Stipendium — doctoral scholarships from the Biomedical Research Foundation

MD students doing their thesis in our lab may have the opportunity to apply for short-term fellowships enabling a research stay at an international partner institution. We are happy to support such applications where possible. Available funding sources include:

• Deutsche Krebshilfe Short-Term Fellowship — funding for short research stays abroad in cancer research
• Carl Duisberg Stipendium — fellowships from the Bayer Foundation for international research exchanges
